Home favourite Iga Swiatek is targeting a place in the Warsaw Open semi-finals when she locks horns with Linda Noskova on Friday.

The only remaining seeds collide in the quarter-finals of the WTA 250, where Swiatek will be desperate to triumph in front of her home fans.

The world number one is targeting her fourth silverware of the season, having already triumphed at Roland Garros, Stuttgart and Doha.

Fresh from a career-best run to the Wimbledon quarter-finals, where she was defeated by Elina Svitolina, Swiatek has dropped just 11 games in her opening two matches.

The Pole has seen off Nigina Abduraimova 6-4, 6-3 and Claire Liu 6-2, 6-2 to take her number of victories for the season to 44 – more than any other player on the WTA Tour. In fact, that tally was only beaten by Ons Jabeur (47) and Swiatek (67) herself during the entire 2022 campaign.

But she faces a tricky quarter-final clash against Czech teenager Noskova, who battled past Jana Fett in three sets before defeating Viktoria Hruncakova 6-3, 6-3 in the second round.

The world number 59 has already underlined her potential this season, having reached the championship match in Adelaide in January.

There, she overcame the likes of Jabeur and Victoria Azarenka before eventually succumbing to in-form world number two Aryna Sabalenka, who went on to triumph at the Australian Open later that month.

The winner of this match will play either Heather Watson or Yanina Wickmayer in the semi-finals of the Warsaw Open.

Play gets underway at around 6.30pm BST on Friday and will be contested over the best of three sets on Center Court.
