Paula Badosa will be looking to continue her good run of form against another tenacious competitor in the form of Maria Sakkari at WTA Madrid. 

These two are really good friends, which could cloud the waters a little bit. The previous matches between the pair have come on hard courts so don’t tell us too much about what could happen here. The record is 1-1 as well, so no real pointers.

Recent form would point to the Spaniard. Badosa wiped the floor with Coco Gauff in the previous round and since Indian Wells she has only lost to Elena Rybakina, Jessica Pegula, and Aryna Sabalenka.

Sakkari has been pretty scrappy for most of the season, albeit the Greek is fairly comfortable with that style. She dropped a set to Masarova in the previous round, which doesn’t read as great form.

I would expect Badosa to win this match in straight sets if both players are consistent to where their form predicts them to be at this stage.
