Venus Williams was unable to make her US Open dreams a reality, crashing out in the first round.
Williams was soundly beaten, losing in straight sets to Belgian, Greet Minnen, and rumours are already circulating that she won’t be returning to the circuit in 2024.

At 42 years of age, it’s probably safe to assume that Williams’ best years are behind her but she’ll be hoping that her career renaissance can begin at Flushing Meadows this year.
Williams didn’t compete at either the Australian, or French, Open this year but entered Wimbledon hoping to make an impact on a tournament that she’s won five times previously. It wasn’t to be however, with the US star crashing out in the first round, losing in straight sets to Elina Svitolina. It might be a long shot but a home crowd, and the right momentum, could see Williams provide a shock.
