Annet Kontaveit and Jelena Ostapenko will square off in the final of the WTA Eastbourne 2021 from 12.30pm BST on Saturday.
After a couple of hard-fought victories over Kuznetsova, Andreescu, and Golubic, Kontaveit was definitely happy to have a break after Camila Giorgi’s early withdraw in the Semi-Finals. Kontaveit has never gone beyond the second round of Eastbourne in her previous two visits, but she is now bidding for her bigger career title on grass. Her only trophy on grass is the Hertogenbosch one following her great run back in 2017.
Meanwhile, Ostapenko looked incredibly strong against Elena Rybakina in the Semi-Finals finishing the match after just 90 minutes (6-4, 6-1). This will be Ostapenko’s first final on the grass surface, although she did well to reach the Quarter-Finals of Eastbourne 2018. Jelena has converted three of her eight final appearances so far in her career.
