WTA Monterrey Betting Tips & Predictions | Our Picks For This Week’s Tennis

Andy Watson in WTA Tour 27 Feb 2023

This is the 15th edition of the Monterrey Open and Caroline Garcia will be looking for a second finals appearance at WTA Monterrey after becoming runner-up here in 2015.

The tournament is to be played outdoors on a Decoturf hard court, a commonly used surface around the WTA Tour hardcourt destinations. Club Sonoma has been the venue for this tournament since 2014 so many of the players will be familiar with it.

The seedings for the tournament go down to #54 (Elisabetta Cocciaretto) so the field is a fairly even and weak one, which can make it tricky to predict.

WTA Austin is also previewed on site and the ATP Tour has tips for all three events too.  You can read our tips for ATP Dubai (given the full famous stats grid treatment this week), ATP Santiago and ATP Acapulco on site.

WTA Monterrey Betting Tips

Marie Bouzkova 1pt @ 7/1 with BetVictor

Bouzkova is a former finalist here and last year her charge was only ended by an in-form Beatriz Haddad Maia so she clearly enjoys the surroundings at this tournament and will see this as a chance to gain a few ranking points by reaching the semis or hopefully going all the way.

The Czech is the second seed here so has a pretty decent draw to work through with perhaps Jule Niemaier the main threat in her section. Bouzkova isn’t in the greatest of form but her pedigree in this level of event is sound having won a 250 event in Prague alongside a final in another Mexican event in Guadalajara in 2022.

Donna Vekic 1pt @ 11/1 with Bet365

One of my bigger stances at the moment is that Donna Vekic might be improving again later in her career. She is over 60% win rate for her last year, her defeats this season have come against Aryna Sabalenka in the Australian Open QF and a tight one to Maria Sakkari in the Linz QF, hardly any shame in those, and she ended 2022 reaching a WTA500 final in San Diego and taking a set off Iga Swiatek in that final.

Vekic and Bouzkova are in the same half so only straight win bets make sense here but I would be surprised if one of them didn’t reach the final.

Diana Schnaider 0.1pt EW @ 70/1 with BetVictor

A flier on the young Russian is required in the top half of the draw. She was a revelation when I watched her match against Sakkari in the Australian Open. A diminuitive height but a really powerful stroke off both wings. I suspect she might not reach the very top of the game as a result of her height and the effect on her serve, but she should reach a good ranking given time and with this being her first event since Australia it could be a good chance to get on board at a big price.

WTA Monterrey Draw

The draw in Monterrey is a 32-player draw, with eight seeds.
