A host of big names are in action at the 2021 WTA Parma.
Also known as the Emilia-Romagna Open, the 2021 WTA Parma event features 32 players battling it out from May 16-22.
The clay court event is classified as a WTA 250 event with a total prize fund of $250,000.
For many, it will be the final chance to fine-tune preparations for the upcoming French Open, which gets under way at Roland Garros next weekend.
The WTA Parma is a new event on the calendar this season and features a clutch of top female stars, including 23-time Grand Slam winner Serena Williams – who is the number one seed.
Croatia’s Petra Martić is seeded number two, while teenage sensation Coco Gauff is aiming to follow up her impressive run to the Semi-Finals of the Italian Open in Rome last week.
Russia’s Daria Kasatkina, America’s Amanda Anisimova, Spain’s Sara Sorribes Tormo, China’s Wang Qiang and Caroline Garcia of France make up the other seeds.
