Elena Rybakina and Aryna Sabalenka face off in the final for the right to claim the 2023 Australian Open Women’s Singles title on Saturday.

The big-serving duo are both vying to create a slice of history by becoming the latest new name to be etched onto the trophy at Melbourne Park.

For Rybakina, it is a chance to double her tally of major titles, following on from her breakthrough success at Wimbledon last year.

She has dropped just one set in reaching the final here for the first time in what is only her fourth appearance in the main draw.

The Kazakh star, seeded 22, eased past Elisabetta Cocciaretto and Kaja Juvan in straight sets, before dispatching Danielle Collins in a deciding set and sensationally dumping out top seed Iga Swiatek 6-4, 6-4.

Rybakina produced another dominant display to see off 17th seed Jelena Ostapenko 6-2, 6-4 in the Quarter-Finals, before seeing off two-time champion Victoria Azarenka 7-6, 6-3.

Sabalenka, meanwhile, comes into the final in the midst of a flawless ten-match unbeaten run in 2023, following her successful campaign at the Adelaide International – where she picked up her 11th career title.

In her breakthrough tournament, the fifth seed has progressed to her first Grand Slam final and is still yet to drop a set so far this year.

Back-to-back semi-finalist at the US Open, Sabalenka also reached the Last Four at Wimbledon two years ago and is looking to add this title to her doubles crown alongside Elise Mertens here in 2021.

The 24-year-old has swept aside Tereza Martincová, Shelby Rogers, Elise Mertens, Belinda Bencic, Donna Vekic and Magda Linette and now stands on the brink of history.

Sabalenka boasts an unbeaten head-to-head record over Rybakina, having won all three of their previous meetings to date, including victory at Wimbledon 2021.

The final gets under way from 8.30am GMT and will be available to watch live online via the link below.
