The 2023 US Open takes place from August 28 to September 10, and you can follow the latest results and schedule of play here.

This will be the 143rd staging of the season’s final grand slam with 128 men and 128 women fighting for the title at Flushing Meadows in New York.

Carlos Alcaraz is the reigning men’s champion after beating Casper Ruud 6-4, 2-6, 7-6(1), 6-3 in the 2022 final.

The world number one is aiming to become the first player since Roger Federer in 2008 to successfully defend the men’s title.

However, he faces stiff competition from three-time champion Novak Djokovic, who has also reached a further nine finals in New York.

There are four other former winners in the men’s draw – Daniil Medvedev (2021), Dominic Thiem (2020), Stan Wawrinka (2016) and Andy Murray (2012).

Fresh from winning the National Bank Open, Jannik Sinner will be contention to win his first major, as will Stefanos Tsitsipas, Holger Rune, Andrey Rublev and home favourite Taylor Fritz.

Meanwhile, Iga Swiatek is the defending women’s champion after overcoming Ons Jabeur 6-2, 7-6(5) in last year’s showpiece.

Serena Williams was the last player to win back-to-back titles at Flushing Meadows, where sister Venus is set to make her 24th main-draw appearance.

The two-time champion is one of three former winners in the draw along with Sloane Stephens, who lifted the trophy in 2017.

Like Swiatek, Aryna Sabalenka and Marketa Vondrousova are seeking their second major titles of the season following their triumphs at the Australian Open and Wimbledon respectively.

The likes of Jabeur, Jessica Pegula, Elena Rybakina, Coco Gauff and Elina Svitolina are among the chasing pack.

Jabeur is one of six former finalists aiming to go the extra step along with Victoria Azarenka, Karolina Pliskova, Madison Keys, Leylah Fernandez and Caroline Wozniacki.

All women’s matches will be contested over the best of three sets, while all men’s matches will be played over five sets at Flushing Meadows in New York.
