Aryna Sabalenka was unable to cap a sensational year, losing in the US Open final to Cori Gauff.
The 25-year-old secured her first Grand Slam title at the beginning of the year, putting the disappointment of a 2022 US Open semi-final defeat behind her.
Semi-final appearances at the French Open and Wimbledon also showed Sabalenka’s class and she’ll be aiming to take over as world number one in 2024.
