Cameron Norrie looks to break new ground at the Australian Open when he faces Casper Ruud in round three on Saturday.

The British number one is aiming to reach the fourth round in Melbourne for the first time, and arrives off the back of two contrasting matches so far.

After sweeping Juan Pablo Varillas aside in straight sets, Norrie found himself two down against Giulio Zeppieri but dug deep and eventually completed the turnaround against the Italian qualifier.

The 19th seed knows he cannot afford to be slow out of the blocks against three-time major finalist Ruud.

The Norwegian, who dropped just five games in round one, also endured a nervy second-round clash as he was taken all the way by home favourite Max Purcell, who he eventually edged out in a fifth-set tie-break.

The match gets under way from around 6am GMT (5pm local time) on John Cain Arena, with either Alexander Zverev or Alex Michelsen awaiting the winner in the fourth round.

The Norwegian has dominated their head-to-head record, dropping just a single set in their three previous showdowns.

That previous experience of going deep at majors may prove another key factor and could see him come out on top in this one.
