The US Open is complete, and the season’s last major went to two players chasing very different milestones. Alexander Zverev beat Ben Shelton 6-3, 7-6(2), 5-7, 6-2 for a second Grand Slam title in a single season, six years after losing the 2020 final in New York from two sets up.
Elena Rybakina took the women’s title, beating Aryna Sabalenka 6-4, 5-7, 6-2 to end her bid for a third straight New York crown and to reach world No. 1 for the first time. It was Rybakina’s second major of 2026, both won against Sabalenka in the final.
