Novak Djokovic begins his latest quest for a record-breaking 25th major singles title against Vit Kopriva in the first round at Wimbledon.

The Serb’s participation at SW19 had been in doubt after undergoing knee surgery following his withdrawal from the French Open.

However, the seven-time champion is here and ready to go, as he looks to equal Roger Federer’s record of eight triumphs at the All England Club.

A debutant stands in his way in the opening round, with world number 123 Kopriva looking to cause what would be one of the biggest upsets in Wimbledon history.

Although a huge underdog, the Czech has certainly earned the right to be here, having defeated two-time semi-finalist Richard Gasquet in his final qualifier.

The winner of this contest will play either Jacob Fearnley or Alejandro Moro Canos in the second round.

The match gets under way at around 3.30pm BST on Tuesday and will be contested over the best of five sets on Centre Court.

Incredibly, Djokovic is still seeking his first silverware of 2024.

The Serb is likely to show a couple of signs of rustiness, given this is his first match since pulling out at Roland Garros.
