Iga Swiatek begins her latest quest for a first Wimbledon title with a tricky opening-round tie against Sofia Kenin.

One of the most eye-catching tie of the first round at SW19 pits the world number one against the former Australian Open champion on No.1 Court.

Swiatek is hoping this is the year she adds a maiden Wimbledon crown to her ever-growing resume, which already include four French Open titles.

The Pole did reach the quarter-finals 12 months ago, losing out to an inspired Elina Svitolina, and will want to go the extra couple of steps this time around.

She won’t expect an easy ride against Kenin, who boasts impressive grand slam pedigree having also reached a French Open final – losing out to Swiatek four years ago.

And the American has chalked up impressive victories over the likes of Ons Jabeur and Caroline Garcia already this season.

A second-round showdown with either Francesca Jones or Petra Martic awaits the winner of this match.

The match gets under way at around 5pm BST on Tuesday and will be contested over the best of three sets on No.1 Court.

Despite her aforementioned scalps, Kenin has struggled to build momentum otherwise this season, losing her opening match at nine events.

By contrast, Swiatek has already landed five titles, while triumphing in each of her last three tournaments – winning 19 straight matches.

The most recent of these saw her complete a hat-trick of French Open triumphs, and you would expect her to come through this first-round test.
