Carlos Alcaraz continues his Wimbledon title defence with a tasty quarter-final match against Cameron Norrie on Tuesday.
The standout tie of the last eight at the All England Club pits the two-time reigning champion against the home favourite on Centre Court.
Alcaraz, who survived a deciding set against Fabio Fognini in round one, was then forced to come from behind to see off Andrey Rublev in round four to reach his 12th major quarter-final.
Aged 22 years and 56 days, he become the youngest men’s singles player to achieve the feat in the Open Era, and he is the youngest since Rafael Nadal (2006-08) to reach three straight Wimbledon quarter-finals.
Meanwhile, at 29 years and 312 days, Norrie became the third-oldest British player to reach the last eight of the men’s singles at Wimbledon – after Andy Murray (2017) and Roger Taylor (1973).
The only remaining unseeded player at 61st in the ATP rankings, the left-hander did so by battling past Nicolas Jarry in five sets, having already defeated Roberto Bautista Agut, 12th seed Frances Tiafoe and Mattia Bellucci.
A showdown with either Taylor Fritz or Karen Khachanov awaits the winner of this clash in the semi-finals.
The match gets under way at around 4pm BST on Tuesday and will be contested over the best of five sets on Centre Court.
Carlos Alcaraz v Cameron Norrie prediction
It has been a remarkable upturn in fortunes for Norrie, who has slipped outside the world’s top 60 following his recent struggle for form.
The last home favourite standing, he will undoubtedly be driven on by the Centre Court crowd in only his second major quarter-final – and first since reaching the semis here three years ago.
However, he is fully aware of the task at hand, with Alcaraz seeking a 32nd victory in his last 33 matches.
Not only that, the Spaniard boasts a solid 7-4 strike rate at this stage of slams, and he will take some stopping here.
