Karen Khachanov and Alexander Bublik go head to head for the right to play Daniil Medvedev in Sunday’s Halle Open final.

The players ranked 22nd and 43rd in the world respectively do battle on Saturday, with former US Open champion Medvedev awaiting the winner following his victory over home favourite Alexander Zverev.

Both players are enjoying their best performances of the season, and seeking their first appearance in a championship match in the calendar year.

Bublik knows what it takes to go all the way here, having lifted the trophy in 2023, and has demonstrated his credentials once again by stunning world number one Jannik Sinner in round two.

The French Open quarter-finalist has also defeated seventh seed Tomas Machac on the way to securing his place in the last four.

Meanwhile, Khachanov has matched his run to the semi-finals on debut in Halle eight years ago.

The 29-year-old, who has beaten Felix Auger-Aliassime and Tomas Etcheverry this week, is now looking to record the 300th tour-level win of his career, and would be the sixth man aged 30 or under to achieve the feat.

The match gets under way at around 5.30pm BST on Saturday and will be contested over the best of three sets at OWL Arena.

As previously mentioned, Bublik has been there and got the T-shirt as far as the Halle Open is concerned.

The 2023 champion has won all seven of his matches in the event against players ranked inside the world’s top 25.

By contrast, Khachanov has never previously reached a championship match outside of hard courts, losing each of his four such semi-finals.

This will be only the second meeting between the players on the ATP Tour. Khachanov was a straight-sets winner in their sole previous encounter in Cincinnati five years ago.
