Alexander Zverev and Taylor Fritz lock horns in a mouth-watering Italian Open quarter-final at Foro Italico on Wednesday.

The third and 11th seeds collide for the right to play Alejandro Tabilo in the last four, and both will sense a genuine opportunity to go all the way this week.

Zverev is eyeing his fourth semi-final of the season, having also reached that stage at the Australian Open, as well as in Miami and Los Cabos.

The 2017 champion, who is 25-9 for the season, is yet to drop a set this week in his quest to become a multiple winner in Rome.

Meanwhile, Fritz came through an epic three-set showdown with Grigor Dimitrov to reach his 50th tour-level quarter-final.

The Delray Beach champion, who previously overcame Fabio Fognini and Sebastian Korda in straight sets, has already made history this week, becoming the first American to reach the last eight at three different ATP Masters events on clay.

The match gets under way at around 7.30pm BST (8.30pm local time) and will be contested over the best of three sets on Center Court.

One factor that could come into play is the contrast in experience at this stage in the Italian capital.
