Carlos Alcaraz aims to reach the Australian Open fourth round for the first time when he plays Shang Juncheng on Saturday.
The world number two looks to break new ground in Melbourne, where he has already faced three tie-breaks in his opening two matches.
The first came during his straight-sets victory over veteran Richard Gasquet in round one, with a further two against Lorenzo Sonego, who he eventually battled past 6-4, 6-7(3), 6-3, 7-6(3).
Standing in his way is world number 140 Shang, who is appearing in round three at a major for the first time.
A two-time Challenger Tour semi-finalist last season, the Chinese has demonstrated good character in his first two outings, coming from behind against both Mackenzie McDonald and Sumit Nagal.
The match gets under way from around 2.30am GMT (1.30pm local time) on Rod Laver Arena, with either Tommy Paul or Miomir Kecmanovic awaiting the winner in the fourth round.
Carlos Alcaraz v Shang Juncheng prediction
A red-hot favourite for this one, Alcaraz is looking to reach round four at a seventh major in succession.
The Spaniard is also eager to make up for lost time in Melbourne, having missed out through injury 12 months ago.
On a ground-breaking run, Shang has confidence having recently reached the semi-finals in Hong Kong, where he beat Laslo Djere, Botic van de Zandschlup and Frances Tiafoe before losing out to Andrey Rublev.
But facing the world number two on one of the biggest stages poses a totally different challenge, and one you would expect his opponent to dominate.
