Novak Djokovic v Jannik Sinner | Australian Open Semi-Final preview, betting tips and H2H
Novak Djokovic steps up his quest for a fifth straight Australian Open title with a Semi-Final showdown against Jannik Sinner on Friday.
Like a fine wine, Djokovic looks to be getting better with age, and the 36-year-old is through to a record-extending 48th grand slam Semi-Final.
Djokovic, who is now a staggering 33 matches unbeaten at the Australian Open, is through to his tenth Semi-Final in Melbourne and has never lost at this stage of the competition.
He is attempting to break Margaret Court’s all-time record of 24 major singles titles, and to equal her all-time record of 11 Australian Open titles.
Sinner, meanwhile, has blitzed through to only his second grand slam Semi-Final and has incredibly done so without dropping a set.
The Italian star has won 26 of his last 29 matches since last year’s US Open and is looking to end Djokovic’s emphatic winning run here and avenge successive Wimbledon defeats at the hands of his nemesis.
The match gets under way from 3.30am GMT (2.30pm local time) in the Rod Laver Arena, with either Daniil Medvedev or Alexander Zverev awaiting the winner in Sunday’s final.
Novak Djokovic v Jannik Sinner prediction
Sinner has produced undoubtedly his best form in a major to equal last year’s run to the semis at Wimbledon and will feel he has a genuine chance of being the man to dethrone Djokovic.
Djokovic, however, has not suffered defeat here since 2018, and even when not at his blistering best, finds a way to dig deep and get over the line.
Sinner has taken a set or more off Djokovic in three of their last five meetings, famously going the distance at Wimbledon in 2022.
Djokovic has never tasted defeat in ten previous Australian Open Semi-Finals and it looks like taking a mammoth effort to halt that run, though big-serving Sinner looks good to secure a set at the very least in what should be an epic battle.

Novak Djokovic v Jannik Sinner head-to-head
The pair have met six times in previous competition since 2021, with Djokovic having come out on top on four of those occasions.
The Serb secured back-to-back wins at Wimbledon in 2022 and 2023, as well as prevailing in the final of last year’s ATP Finals, but it was Sinner who took the spoils in their most recent encounter in the Semi-Finals of the recent Davis Cup.
