Alexander Zverev looks to maintain his impressive start at the French Open when he faces Tallon Griekspoor in round three on Saturday.

A semi-finalist in each of the last three years at Roland Garros, Zverev is aiming to go the extra couple of steps this time around and finally land that elusive major title.

The German is certainly in decent form. Fresh from his Italian Open triumph, he has built on that momentum with six unanswered sets in his opening two matches.

First, Zverev saw off Rafael Nadal on what is likely to be the 14-time champion’s French Open swansong, becoming only the third player to beat the Spaniard at Roland Garros in the process – after Robin Soderling and Novak Djokovic.

He then defeated David Goffin to remain on course for another deep run in the French capital.

By contrast, this is Griekspoor’s first appearance in round three here, and the Dutchman has his sights set on a maiden venture to a major last 16.

The 26th seed has defeated Mackenzie McDonald and Luciano Darderi this week, but Zverev will provide a completely different test of his credentials.

The match gets under way at around 3pm BST (4pm local time) on Saturday and will be contested over the best of five sets on Court Philippe-Chatrier.

Zverev is certainly a man on a mission of late, now having won each of his last eight matches – dropping just a single set along the way.

His proven pedigree at Roland Garros also means it will take something special to stop him in his tracks this fortnight.

It may prove too much for Griekspoor, who is already in uncharted territory and not necessarily firing on all cylinders.

Therefore, we should expect the outcome to be a fairly comfortable victory in Zverev’s favour.
