Carlos Alcaraz continues his French Open title quest with a tricky third-round clash against Sebastian Korda on Friday.

The Spaniard is appearing in the last 32 here for a fourth straight year, and is the fifth-youngest player in the Open Era to achieve the feat in his first four appearances at Roland Garros.

Despite a right forearm injury hampering his preparations from the clay-court major, Alcaraz eased past J.J. Wolf in the opening round 6-1, 6-2, 6-1, before prevailing in four sets against Dutchman Jesper de Jong in round two.

The world number three has now reached at least the third round in each of his last 10 majors.

Meanwhile, Korda is gearing up for a third appearance at this stage in five years – and aiming to match his run to the last 16 on debut in 2020.

The American has also dropped just a single set in his opening two matches, which have brought victories over French wildcard Harold Mayot and South Korea’s Kwon Soon-woo.

The match gets under way at around 7.15pm BST (8.15pm local time) and will be contested over the best of five sets on Court Philippe-Chatrier.

Although still building towards his optimum fitness levels, Alcaraz’s momentum will grow with each match that passes.

Meanwhile, Korda reached the semi-finals in Adelaide at the start of the year, but has not really built on that as the campaign has progressed.

With those factors in mind – just to name a couple – it is hard to see any other outcome than a relatively routine Alcaraz win.
