Dan Evans looks to improve his poor French Open record by claiming the scalp of Holger Rune in round one at Roland Garros.
The Briton, who turned 34 on Thursday, has not enjoyed the best of fortunes at the season’s second major, where his seven previous main-draw appearances have yielded just one victory.
His form this season suggests he may struggle to double that tally here.
Indeed, Evans has won just three of his 14 ATP matches and subsequently slipped to 60th in the rankings.
By contrast, Rune has been a runner-up in Brisbane, and semi-finalist in Munich and Acapulco this term.
And the Dane will take some stopping at this event, where he has reached the quarter-finals in each of the last two years.

This season’s form book and the French Open history books both suggest this is looking pretty ominous for Evans.
Along with his successive Roland Garros quarter-finals – and the aforementioned Munich semi-final – Rune has also demonstrated his clay-court credentials this season by reaching the last eight in Monte-Carlo.
Surface specialist Casper Ruud is the only player to beat the Dane here in the last two years – the Norwegian going on to reach the final both times – and you would expect him to overcome his first obstacle in a fairly comfortable manner.
