Novak Djokovic continues his quest for a record-breaking 25th grand slam singles title against Lorenzo Musetti on Saturday.

Both players head into their French Open third-round showdown having reeled off six sets without reply in their opening two matches.

Djokovic has seen off Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Roberto Carballes Baena to reach round three at Roland Garros for a record-breaking 19th time.

The three-time champion also now has 94 match wins in the clay-court major; the joint-most he has registered in a single ATP event along with the Australian Open, where he is a 10-time winner.

Meanwhile, despite mixed preparations for this tournament, Musetti has overcome Daniel Galan and home favourite Gael Monfils thus far.

The Italian has been to the last 16 in two of his three previous appearances at Roland Garros, and did beat Djokovic on clay at last year’s Monte-Carlo Masters – a result that will certainly boost his confidence of claiming a scalp here.

The match gets under way at 7.15pm BST (8.15pm local time) on Saturday and will be contested over the best of five sets on Court Philippe-Chatrier.

Musetti does have form at the French Open, and will certainly provide a tough test of Djokovic’s credentials.

However, the Serb will certainly take some stopping. After all, his only previous third-round defeat at Roland Garros came at the hands of Philipp Kohlschreiber way back in 2009.

Not only that, but the way he suddenly turned on the style from 4-4 and deuce in the opening set against Baena was frightening, winning 14 of the next 17 games.

With that in mind, it would be daft to bet against another resounding victory for the record-chasing world number one.
