Alexander Zverev and Alex de Minaur go head to head in a mouth-watering last-16 encounter at the Indian Wells Masters on Tuesday.

One of the ties of the round pits the sixth seed against the 10th, with a potential quarter-final against Carlos Alcaraz on offer to the winner.

Both players are yet to drop a set in their two matches so far; Zverev beating Christopher O’Connell and Tallon Griekspoor while De Minaur overcame Taro Daniel and Alexander Bublik.

They are each looking for their second silverware of the campaign, too. Zverev was part of the victorious German side at the United Cup, and De Minaur recently triumphed in Acapulco after he was runner-up to Jannik Sinner in Rotterdam.

A five-time Masters winner, Zverev is aiming to match his best performance at Indian Wells, where he has only reached the quarter-finals once in his seven previous appearances.

Meanwhile, his opponent is looking to reach that stage for only the third time at a Masters tournament – and the first in this event.

A showdown with either Carlos Alcaraz or Florian Marozsan awaits the winner of this clash in the quarter-finals.

The match gets under way at around 8pm GMT (3pm local time) on Stadium 2.

On top of his United Cup success, Zverev has also reached the semi-finals in Melbourne and Los Cabos.

Meanwhile, De Minaur’s strong start to the campaign has already seen him defeat Novak Djokovic, Andrey Rublev, Casper Ruud, Taylor Fritz, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Grigor Dimitrov.

That impressive list of victories in such a short space of time may well swing this contest in the Australian’s favour.
