Alexander Zverev looks to remain on course for a deep run at the US Open when he plays Tomas Etcheverry in round three on Friday.
The German is aiming to go the extra step at Flushing Meadows after reaching the 2020 final, while finally landing that maiden major crown.
Zverev has dropped just a single set so far in his victories over compatriot Maximilian Marterer and Alexandre Muller
The Italian Open champion is now just two more wins away from reaching his fourth successive US Open quarter-final.
His opponent has endured two contrasting victories to reach round three in the Big Apple for the first time; seeing off Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in straight sets before battling past compatriot Francisco Cerundolo in five.
Etcheverry now looks to advance to a major fourth round for only the second time. Ironically, his only such venture came at last year’s French Open, where he was beaten in the quarter-finals by Zverev in what was their only previous meeting.
Lorenzo Musetti or Brandon Nakashima awaits the winner of this match in the US Open fourth round.
The match gets under way at around 2am BST (9pm local time) on Friday and will be contested over the best of five sets at Louis Armstrong Stadium.

A quarter-finalist in each of his three most recent events, including last time out in Cincinnati, Zverev will be confident of maintaining that form this fortnight.
Despite a decent season in which he has been a runner-up in Lyon and semi-finalist on a further two occasions, Etcheverry did arrive in New York with just one win from his previous four matches.
Zverev’s greater consistency levels of recent times, plus his increased experience of these bigger stages, make it hard to back against him here.

This will be only the second meeting between the players on the ATP Tour. Zverev prevailed in four sets when the pair collided in last year’s French Open quarter-finals.
