Jack Draper looks to continue his fairy-tale US Open run when he plays Alex de Minaur in the quarter-finals on Wednesday.

A first major semi-final appearance is the carrot dangling for both players heading into the third men’s last-eight clash at Flushing Meadows.

Once again, it has been a venue very much to the liking of Draper, who has continued to demonstrate gradual progression at the season’s final slam.

After reaching round three on debut in 2022, the Briton went one round better the following year, and has followed suit this time around without dropping a set, with Zhang Zhizhen, Facundo Diaz Acosta, Botic van de Zandschlup and Tomas Machac all seen off.

De Minaur’s consistency on the big stage is also evident. Indeed, this is the Australian’s third straight major quarter-final appearance.

Having already beaten Marcos Giron, Otto Virtanen, Daniel Evans and Jordan Thompson, he now looks to break new ground in his career.

World number one Jannik Sinner or 2021 champion Daniil Medvedev awaits the winner of this clash in the US Open semi-finals.

The match gets under way at around 7pm BST (2pm local time) on Wednesday and will be contested over the best of five sets in Arthur Ashe Stadium.

This is a really tough one to call. Both players are among this season’s ATP winners; Draper claiming his first silverware in Stuttgart, while De Minaur triumphed in Acapulco and s’Hertogenbosch.

While Draper has done brilliantly to reach his first quarter-final at a slam, this is undoubtedly his sternest test yet.

De Minaur has quickly become a regular at this stage, and he was extremely unfortunate to get injured ahead of his Wimbledon quarter-final showdown with Novak Djokovic.

Both players will certainly feel the occasion; Draper looking to extend his ground-breaking run, and De Minaur seeking that first semi-final.

It is worth noting the Australian has won all three of their previous meetings and, in addition to his previous experience of major quarter-finals, he may just prove one step too far for Draper.
