Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner will meet for the third time in two months in the Quarter-Finals of the 2022 US Open on Wednesday.

Alcaraz did not drop a set in his first three matches at the US Open, brushing aside Sebastian Baez, Federico Coria and Jenson Brooksby. Then, he had to face his biggest test of the week as he needed 3 hours and 56 minutes to defeat Marin Cilic in five sets in a Fourth Round epic.

The Spaniard has lost both meetings against Sinner in 2022, 3-1 at Wimbledon and 2-1 at Umag.

Sinner rolled into the Quarter-Finals of the US Open with wins over Daniel Altmaier, Christopher Eubanks, Brandon Nakashima and Ilya Ivashka. Although he had to play against accessible opponents, he was involved in two five-setters already. The first one was against Altmaier in the opening round and then he was taken to the distance by Ivashka in the previous round.

Sinner is yet to win a tournament on hard courts this year, with his best results being at the Australian Open where he reached the quarter-finals. Prior to the US Open, Sinner won title at Umag where he defeated Alcaraz in three sets in the final.
