Jannik Sinner goes head to head with Taylor Fritz for the 2024 US Open men’s singles title at Flushing Meadows on Sunday.

The final slam of the 2024 season reaches its dramatic climax, with the world number one and America’s number one doing battle for glory in New York.

Sinner is targeting his second major crown of the year following his Australian Open triumph back in January.

The top seed has seen off the likes of Tommy Paul, 2021 champion Daniil Medvedev and Jack Draper to become the first Italian male finalist in the Big Apple.

Following his success at Cincinnati last month, he arrives in the championship match on a 10-match winning streak.

Meanwhile, Fritz has also made history with his ground-breaking run to a first major showpiece, becoming the first American to make it this far since Andy Roddick reached the 2009 Wimbledon final.

The 12th seed has certainly earned the right to do battle for glory, having defeated three major finalists along the way in Matteo Berrettini, Casper Ruud and Alexander Zverev, before battling past Frances Tiafoe in an epic five-set semi-final.

Roared on by the crowd at his home slam, Fritz now stands one victory away from history.

The match gets under way at around 7pm BST (2pm local time) on Sunday and will be contested over the best of five sets in Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Sinner looks to put the icing on the cake of a memorable season, in which he has already captured five ATP titles.

The Italian is 9-0 against American opponents this season, and has triumphed in all 27 of his hard-court encounters with players ranked outside the top 10.

By contrast, Fritz is a dismal 0-8 in matches against a world number one, though this would be the perfect time to break that jinx.

However, he may struggle to do so against a buoyant Sinner looking to become only the third player to win each of his first two major titles in the same season.
