Emma Raducanu looks to book her place in the US Open third round when she locks horns with Indonesia’s Janice Tjen on Wednesday.

The 2021 champion arrived at Flushing Meadows having failed to win a match at the season’s final major since her fairytale triumph four years ago.

However, Raducanu finally ended the drought on Sunday in dominant fashion, taking just over an hour to complete a 6-1, 6-2 rout of Japan’s Ena Shibahara.

Meanwhile, Tjen made history as she stunned 24th seed Veronika Kudermetova in the opening round.

The 23-year-old marked her tour-level debut by becoming the first Indonesian woman to win a match at a major in 22 years.

The winner of this clash will play either former Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina or Tereza Valentova in the third round.

Play gets under way at 4pm BST on Wednesday with the match contested over the best of three sets at Louis Armstrong Stadium.

The British number one appears to be building momentum having reached the Citi Open semi-finals earlier this month, while also reaching the quarter-finals at Indian Wells and Queen’s Club this term.

That will stand her in good stead against a player appearing at her first major.

Tjen has claimed 13 ITF titles in the past 16 months and climbed into the world’s top 150, but claiming the scalp of a resurgent Raducanu may prove one step too far on this occasion.
