Cameron Norrie looks to end his losing streak when he plays Facundo Diaz Acosta in the opening round at Wimbledon on Tuesday.

The Briton is on a run of three successive ATP tour-level defeats, and will be desperate for an upturn in fortunes at his home slam.

Though, of course, Norrie can draw on memories of his run to the semi-finals two years ago for inspiration

Meanwhile, his opponent – ranked 67th in the world – is gearing up for his first taste of the SW19 grass.

Acosta poses a potential banana skin, though, having triumphed in Buenos Aires earlier this season, and reached the quarter-finals in Barcelona.

A second-round showdown with either Jack Draper or Elias Ymer awaits the winner of this contest.

The match gets under way at around 4.30pm BST on Tuesday and will be contested over the best of five sets on No.3 Court.

Aside from a run to the semi-finals in Rio – and the quarter-finals in Barcelona and Auckland – it has been a generally inconsistent season for Norrie.

No longer Briton’s number one, he has slipped to 42nd in the ATP rankings, and bowed out in the second round here 12 months ago.

Although, while Diaz does have momentum having landed silverware this year, the Argentine is likely to be rusty given his most recent match was in the Madrid Open first round two months ago.

And the previous experience knowhow of Wimbledon and the surroundings still makes Norrie a heavy favourite here.
