Home favourite Cameron Norrie faces a tricky second-round tie against Frances Tiafoe at Wimbledon on Wednesday.

The 2022 semi-finalist delighted his home crowd on Monday, when he was one of seven British players to book their place in round two.

Norrie overcame fellow former semi-finalist Roberto Bautista Agut in four sets, and now looks to progress to the last 32 for the fourth time in five years.

Although, the world number 61 will have his work cut out against a player ranked 49 places higher in the ATP in Tiafoe.

The two-time US Open semi-finalist enjoyed a commanding straight-sets victory over Denmark’s Elmer Moller on the opening day.

It was an ideal response from this year’s Houston runner-up, who suffered a surprise first-round defeat to Dan Evans at Queen’s Club last time out.

A showdown with either Queen’s Club finalist Jiri Lehecka or Mattia Bellucci awaits the winner of this clash in the third round.

The match gets under way at 1pm BST on Wednesday and will be contested over the best of five sets on No.1 Court.

It is one of the standout ties of the round, with two major semi-finalists going head to head.

Neither player has necessarily been firing on all cylinders this season, though Tiafoe did enjoy a run to the French Open quarter-finals last month.

That recent strong run on the big stage will likely give him the edge over Norrie, whose performance levels in recent times have seen him drop out of the world’s top 60.
