Cameron Norrie aims to delight his home crowd when he takes on Roberto Bautista Agut in the first round at Wimbledon on Monday.

The second match on Court 18 at this year’s championship is a battle of the two former semi-finalists at SW19.

Norrie embarked on a memorable run to the last four in 2022, before succumbing to eventual champion Novak Djokovic.

Although, he is not in as strong a position this time around, having slipped to 61st in the ATP rankings, while he suffered a first-round exit at Queen’s Club last time out.

Bautista Agut went on to reach the semi-finals at that event, losing to eventual winner and compatriot Carlos Alcaraz.

It was the highlight of an otherwise difficult season for the veteran Spaniard, who reached the last four here in 2019, having also suffered nine first-round exits.

A showdown with either 12th seed Frances Tiafoe or Elmer Moller awaits the winner of this clash in the second round.

The match gets under way at around 1pm BST on Monday and will be contested over the best of five sets on Court 18.

This is a difficult opening test for Norrie, who has fallen at the first hurdle in two of his last four majors.

He is facing a player 18 places higher in the ATP rankings, and one who has suffered just one first-round exit in 10 previous appearances at Wimbledon.

It is difficult to pick a winner, with the bookmakers agreeing, though you could certainly see the contest going right to the wire.
