Carlos Alcaraz locks horns with Taylor Fritz on Friday for a place in the 2025 men’s singles final at Wimbledon.

The two-time defending champion and first-time SW19 semi-finalist go head to head with a spot in Sunday’s championship match at stake.

Alcaraz, who survived a deciding set against Fabio Fognini in round one, was then forced to come from behind to see off Andrey Rublev in round four.

Otherwise, it has been generally plain sailing for the Spaniard. A straight-sets victory over Cameron Norrie in the last eight saw him become the third-youngest player in the Open Era – after Bjorn Borg and Rafael Nadal – reach three successive men’s semi-finals at the All England Club.

He also stands just two more wins away from being the fifth player to win three successive men’s singles titles at the grass-court major.

Meanwhile, Fritz is looking to become the first American men’s singles finalist at Wimbledon since Andy Roddick 16 years ago.

The fifth seed is the first SW19 semi-finalist to endure five-setters in the opening two rounds since Vladimir Voltchkov in 2000.

Victories over Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard, Gabriel Diallo, Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, Jordan Thompson and Karen Khachanov have seen him progress to the last four for the first time at the All England Club.

A showdown with either world number one Jannik Sinner or seven-time champion Novak Djokovic awaits the winner of this clash in Sunday’s final.

The match gets under way at 1.30pm BST on Friday and will be contested over the best of five sets on Centre Court.

Carlos Alcaraz v Taylor Fritz prediction

Both players enter this semi-final protecting impressive winning streaks.

Alcaraz has won each of his last 23 matches on the ATP Tour – as well as his most recent 19 at Wimbledon – while Stuttgart and Eastbourne champion Fritz has prevailed from his last nine contests.

The American also leads the way for match wins on grass since the start of the 2020 season with 36.

Although, he has conceded 87 games en route to the Wimbledon semi-finals, the most among top-five seeds since Novak Djokovic (100) in 2012.

That is something Alcaraz will look to capitalise on in his bid for a sixth victory from eight major semi-final appearances.
