Iga Swiatek and Amanda Anisimova go head to head in the 2025 Wimbledon final on Saturday, with a new champion set to be crowned at SW19.
For the eighth straight edition of the grass-court major, a new name will be added to the Venus Rosewater Dish.
Swiatek, who had previously notoriously struggled on surface, is gearing up for her sixth major final, while it is the first in the career of Anisimova.
The Pole has beaten Polina Kudermetova, Caty McNally, Danielle Collins, Clara Tauson, Liudmila Samsonova and Belinda Bencic to become the only active player on the WTA Tour to reach grand slam finals on all three surfaces – and the youngest to achieve the feat since Justine Henin in 2003.
Only the second Wimbledon finalist from Poland – after Agnieszka Radwanska in 2012 – Swiatek can become her nation’s first champion at the All England Club in the Open Era.
Standing in her way is America’s first women’s singles finalist at SW19 since a certain Serena Williams six years ago.
Anisimova has embarked on a memorable run to the championship match, which will see her climb into the world’s top 10 for the first time in her career.
The Queen’s Club finalist set the tone for the fortnight with a 6-0, 6-0 rout of Yulia Putintseva, while Renata Zarazua, Dalma Galfi, Linda Noskova and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova were also beaten, before she stunned top seed Aryna Sabalenka in the semi-finals.
Anisimova is the fourth woman since 1990 to beat the world number one at Wimbledon on the way to reaching her first major final, and will look to convert that into the biggest triumph of her career.
The match gets under way at around 4pm BST on Saturday and will be contested over the best of three sets on Centre Court.
Iga Swiatek v Amanda Anisimova prediction
Having endured something of a slump by her standards in recent times, Swiatek’s previous form on grass will not have given her too much cause for optimism.
However, a run to the championship match in Bad Homberg will have definitely boosted her confidence, and she has subsequently looked back to her brilliant best this fortnight, dropping just a single set along the way.
Anisimova has also enjoyed a remarkable transformation of fortunes at SW19, having lost in qualifying 12 months ago.
In fact, she is only the second woman in the Open Era to reach a major singles final having lost in qualifying the previous year, after Bianca Andreescu at the 2019 US Open.
Although, she now faces a player already seeking her 100th win in 120 major matches. Swiatek would also be the third woman in the Open Era – after Margaret Court and Monica Seles – to win each of her first six grand slam finals.
