Katie Boulter will be looking to delight her home crowd when she takes on Paula Badosa in the first round at Wimbledon.
The home favourite arrives at the grass-court major with a point to prove, having recently relinquished her status as Britain’s number one.
Boulter did triumph at the WTA 125 in Paris last month, but a run to the Nottingham Open quarter-finals represents her best tour-level performance of the campaign.
Nevertheless, the world number 43 will be raring to go at SW19, where she has beaten the likes of former world number one Karolina Pliskova over the years.
Badosa will aim to avoid becoming another scalp for the Briton. The Spaniard is targeting a deep run at the grass-court major, where she has reached round four on three occasions.
The ninth seed secured her return to the world’s top 10 by reaching a maiden major semi-final at the Australian Open in January, while she has also reached a further three quarter-finals this term.
A second-round showdown with either Solana Sierra or Olivia Gadecki awaits the winner of this clash.
The match gets under way at around 4pm BST on Monday and will be contested over the best of three sets on Centre Court.

This is genuinely a tough one to call, with neither player particularly susceptible to a first-round exit here.
Boulter has suffered just one in her six previous Wimbledon appearances, and that came on her debut in 2017.
Meanwhile, it will be interesting to see how Badosa fares, having retired injured from her quarter-final clash with Xinyu Wang in Berlin last time out.
Both players would like to be coming into this clash in better form but, roared on by the home crowd, Boulter may just have enough to get over the line.

This will be only the second meeting between the players on the WTA Tour. The sole previous encounter came at last year’s French Open, where Badosa came from behind to prevail in three sets.
