Iga Swiatek and Coco Gauff renew their rivalry in a blockbuster Italian Open semi-final at Foro Italico on Thursday.

The Rome crowd will be treated to a mouth-watering last four encounter between the reigning French Open and US Open champions.

Swiatek is aiming to complete a hat-trick of titles in the Italian capital, and has reeled off eight sets without reply so far this week.

Bernarda Pera, Yulia Putintseva, Angelique Kerber and Madison Keys have all been put to the sword by the world number one who, with 16 WTA 1000 semi-final appearances from 30 main draws entered, now boasts the highest such rate of any player since the format’s introduction in 2009.

Meanwhile, Gauff is back in the Rome semi-finals three years after her first appearance at this stage of the tournament.

Having beaten Magdalena Frech and Paula Badosa earlier in the event, the Auckland champion is fresh from claiming her first top-10 win of the season against Qinwen Zheng in the last eight.

The match gets under way at around 2pm BST (3pm local time) and will be contested over the best of three sets on Center Court.

There is no stopping Swiatek at the moment. The Pole is targeting her fourth silverware of the season, having already triumphed in Doha, Indian Wells and Madrid, and has won each of her last 10 matches.

She is also aiming to become the first player since Serena Williams in 2013 to win the Madrid Open and Italian Open back-to-back.

Also take into account her dominant record against Gauff, who she has beaten in nine of the 10 previous meetings, it is hard to see any other outcome than a commanding win for the top seed.
