Alejandro Davidovich Fokina
Alejandro Davidovich Fokina is the Spanish player who won the 2026 Shanghai Masters, the first Masters 1000 title of his career, as the No. 25 seed. Born in Rincón de la Victoria near Málaga on 5 June 1999, to a father of Swedish-Russian background and a Russian mother, he won the Wimbledon boys’ title in 2017 and rose to a career-high No. 13 in the week after Shanghai.
For years he was the best player on the tour without a title. He lost his first five tour-level finals, at Monte-Carlo in 2022 and then at Delray Beach, Acapulco, Washington and Basel in 2025, before winning on grass in Mallorca and on hard courts in Chengdu in 2026. In Shanghai he saved a match point against Frances Tiafoe, came from a set down to beat Hubert Hurkacz and the top seed Alexander Zverev, and recovered from a set and a break down to beat Rafael Jódar 1-6, 7-6(5), 6-4 in the final.

Playing Style & Strengths
Davidovich Fokina is one of the quickest movers on the tour and plays with more variety than most baseliners, mixing a heavy forehand with sliced backhands, changes of pace and the drop shot. He can defend from deep and switch to attack in a single shot, which makes him dangerous on every surface: his three titles have come on grass in Mallorca and on hard courts in Chengdu and Shanghai. The question for most of his career was whether he could keep his level through a whole week, and his 2026 season has answered it.
Fokina Betting Tips & Predictions
Davidovich Fokina is no longer the player the market used to doubt in a final. He has won his last three, and his record against top-10 opponents, including Novak Djokovic at Monte-Carlo in 2022 and Alexander Zverev in Shanghai in 2026, means he is a live underdog against almost anyone. His price is usually most generous in the early rounds of the big events, and he has come from a set down often enough that the in-play market is worth watching.
