Luciano Darderi
Luciano Darderi is the Italian clay-court specialist who has won five ATP titles, every one of them on clay, and reached a career-high World No. 16 in May 2026. He is currently World No. 22 on 2,175 points. Born in Villa Gesell in Argentina, he holds both Italian and Argentine citizenship and represented Italy at the 2024 Olympic Games.
His 2026 season produced the two biggest results of his career on opposite surfaces. At the Italian Open in Rome he reached a first Masters 1000 semi-final, becoming the eighth Italian in the Open Era to do so in front of a home crowd, after a quarter-final against Rafael Jódar that finished at two in the morning; Casper Ruud stopped him in the last four. At the US Open he came through as the 21st seed to a first fourth round in New York, where top seed Alexander Zverev ended the run.

Playing Style & Strengths
Darderi is a clay-court player in the South American mould he grew up in: heavy topspin off the forehand, a deep court position and a willingness to build a point over many shots rather than shorten it.
