Tournament Overview
The China Open is a WTA 1000 event on outdoor hard courts at the China National Tennis Center in Beijing, the tournament’s home since 2009. Its Diamond Court holds 15,000 and is the largest show court on the Asian swing. Played over nearly two weeks from late September, Beijing opens the Asian hard-court run that continues at the Wuhan Open and finishes at the WTA Finals. It is one of the ten mandatory WTA 1000s, so its points weigh heavily in the closing weeks of the Race to the WTA Finals.
