Tournament Overview

The Qatar Open is a WTA 1000 event played on outdoor hard courts at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex in Doha, its home since 2008. It opens the Middle East hard-court swing in February, running the week before Dubai, and most of the top 20 play the two back to back. As one of the ten mandatory WTA 1000 tournaments it carries 1,000 ranking points for the champion and counts toward the Race to the WTA Finals, the season-only table that decides the eight singles places in November.
