ATP Sao Paulo 2016 order of play for Thursday, February 25 - Paire, Bellucci to take court today

Benoit Paire will be on court on Thursday.

The second round of matches at the 2016 ATP Sao Paulo will continue on Thursday, February 25 with Benoit Paire and Thomaz Bellucci heading the draw.

Brazilian second seed Bellucci will be up against Roberto Carballes Baena in the third fixture of the day at the centre court. The Spaniard had gone past Taro Daniel in the first round of the tournament in straight sets. He had actually been beaten in the final qualifier to Maximo Gonzalez but still made the main draw here.

Bellucci had a bye in the first round here. He had suffered a first round exit at the ATP Rio de Janeiro prior to this tournament. The Brazilian had exited the Australian Open in the second round to Steve Johnson before making the final at the ATP Quito, where Victor Estrella Burgos beat him to the trophy.

This will be the first career meeting between these two players and the Brazilian Bellucci should start as the favourite.

Following the match between Bellucci and Carballes Baena, top seeded wildcard entrant Benoit Paire will take on Serb Dusan Lajovic. The Frenchman had a bye in the first round here. His last appearance came at the ATP Marseille where he had gone on to make the final before falling in a three-set match against Marin Cilic.

Paire has had a rough ride in the circuit this year. Although he did make the semis at the ATP Chennai to start off her year, he suffered three back-to-back first round exits from the Australian Open, the ATP Montpellier, and the ATP Rotterdam. However, he is currently on an upward curve form-wise and will be confident of success on Thursday.

Lajovic had made the semis at the ATP Buenos Aires and crashed out of the first round at the ATP Rio. He beat Luca Vanni 6-2, 6-2 in straight sets in the first round here to set up this clash against Paire.

This will be the first career meeting between these two players and Paire should be able to make it into the next round.
