Jakub Mensik
Jakub Mensik is the Czech Republic’s leading man and the owner of one of the biggest serves in tennis. Born in Prostějov on 1 September 2005, the 6ft 5in right-hander announced himself at 19 by winning the 2025 Miami Open — a Masters 1000 title as his maiden ATP trophy, sealed by beating Novak Djokovic 7-6(4), 7-6(4) in the final.
2026 has turned that breakthrough into a top-20 residency. Mensik won the Auckland title in January, beat world No. 2 Jannik Sinner in Doha to end a 22-match winning streak, climbed to a career-high World No. 12 in March, and reached his first Grand Slam semi-final at Roland-Garros in June. He is ranked World No. 17 with 2,205 points.

Playing Style & Strengths
Mensik's game is built around the serve, and at 6ft 5in it is a genuine weapon rather than simply a big delivery. During his 2025 Miami Open title run he averaged 129mph on first serves against a tour average nearer 119mph, and struck 25 aces in a single semi-final. The groundstrokes are the part still catching up. His forehand is unusually flat with a compact, distinctive take-back, which produces fewer outright winners than most players in his ranking bracket, so points are shaped by the serve and by first-strike aggression rather than by long rally construction. Roland-Garros 2026 was the proof that the package travels: he beat Andrey Rublev and Joao Fonseca on clay, the surface theoretically least suited to a server, before Alexander Zverev's greater experience told in the semi-final.
Fitness has interrupted him twice. An elbow problem disrupted his 2024 season, and an abdominal injury forced him to withdraw before a fourth-round meeting with Djokovic at the 2026 Australian Open.
