No. 112

Toby Samuel has produced the steepest climb in British tennis in living memory. In June 2025 he was ranked outside the world’s top 1000. By late July 2026 he was No. 112, which is not only a career high but the fifth-best ranking of any British man, ahead of Jack Draper.

The Winchester-born 23-year-old turned professional in 2023 and spent two seasons on the ITF circuit before everything changed in the space of a month. Three titles in three weeks in February and March 2026, and a 15-match winning streak, took him into the top 200 for the first time. A first ATP semi-final at Eastbourne in June and a Challenger title in Winnipeg in July did the rest.

Analysis

Playing Style & Strengths

At 6ft 3in Samuel is built to serve, and the delivery is what carried him up the rankings so quickly: on the Challenger circuit in 2026 he went 30-1 in sets across a three-week run, holding serve almost at will. He is a right-hander with a two-handed backhand and a game built for quick courts, which is why grass and indoor hard have produced his best results. The open question at tour level is the return. Beating a top-60 player at Eastbourne showed he can hurt better opponents, but the step from Challenger to ATP main draws is usually made on second-serve return points rather than on serve, and that is where the next gains have to come.

Samuel Betting Tips & Predictions

Samuel is a live outsider in Challenger and ATP qualifying markets on fast surfaces, and the profile is a familiar one: a big server whose matches turn on tiebreaks. That makes over-games and tiebreak markets more interesting than the outright on his matches. Treat his tour-level main-draw prices with more caution. He has only two Grand Slam main draws behind him and drew Alex de Minaur and Jakub Mensik in them, so there is not yet a body of evidence at that level. 18+, please gamble responsibly.
