Analysis

Playing Style & Strengths

Starodubtseva is a right-hander with a two-handed backhand. She came to the pro tour late, after college tennis at Old Dominion and a year working as a coach at a club in New York. Clay has brought her best results. Her only WTA final came on clay in Charleston, and she has reached the third round at Roland Garros in each of the last two years. She has also shown she can trouble the very best, beating Rybakina in Paris and taking her to a first-set tiebreak at the US Open.

Starodubtseva Betting Tips & Predictions

Starodubtseva’s wins over Rybakina and Keys show she can upset higher-ranked players, above all on clay. Consistency is the concern. She lost her opening match at both the China Open and the Wuhan Open this autumn. In Beijing she lost to Alina Charaeva after winning the first set. On hard courts she is better treated as a player who can win a set against a top name than as a regular upset pick.
