The Guide

Tournament Overview

The Davis Cup is the men's World Cup of tennis, contested by national teams since 1900 and the oldest international team competition in the sport. The 2026 season closes with the Final 8 in Bologna from 24 to 29 November, an eight-nation knockout played indoors on hard courts.

Seven places are decided by the Qualifiers second round, played over two days in September at the home nation's choice of venue. Italy, the defending champion, take the eighth place as hosts.

Each tie is decided over a maximum of five rubbers: four singles and one doubles, with the first nation to three wins going through.

The eight nations in Bologna are Italy (defending champion and host), Czechia, Canada, Austria, South Korea, Germany, Great Britain and Spain.
