ATP and WTA action continues at the 2021 National Bank Open in Canada in August.
The 140th edition of the men’s tournament, an ATP 1000 held in Toronto, features 16 seeded stars joined in the draw by a series of qualifiers and wildcards.
The 129th edition of the women’s tournament, a WTA 1000 held in Montreal, also features 16 seeds accompanied by a host of qualifiers and wildcards.
The respective events continue the build-up to the US Open in New York later this month.
Rafael Nadal is the reigning and five-time Canadian Open champion, having claimed back-to-back titles in 2018 and 2019.
Nadal is the number two seed and is eyeing a return to the winner’s circle having opted out of Wimbledon and the Olympic Games before suffering a Last 16 defeat to Lloyd Harris in the Washington Open last week.
Daniil Medvedev, who was beaten by Nadal in the 2019 final, returns as number one seed, with Stefanos Tsitsipas and Andrey Rublev seeded three and four respectively.
The likes of Denis Shapovalov, Casper Ruud, Félix Auger-Aliassime and Diego Schwartzman will also be out to make their mark.
The women’s event sees Bianca Andreescu bidding to defend her title on home soil, with the Canadian seeded number two behind recent Wimbledon semi-finalist Aryna Sabalenka.
Two-time champion Simona Halep is also in action, alongside the likes of Elina Svitolina, Karolína Plíšková and Coco Gauff.
