Tournament Overview
The WTA Tour is the top tier of women's professional tennis, running a season-long calendar of Grand Slams, WTA 1000, WTA 500 and WTA 250 events that culminates in the season-ending WTA Finals, with players earning ranking points across the year to determine the world No. 1 and seedings.
The 2026 season has been defined by Aryna Sabalenka's continued dominance at the top of the rankings, headlined by a Sunshine Double (Indian Wells and Miami) that made her only the fifth woman in history to complete the feat. Elina Svitolina produced one of the standout results of the season at the Italian Open, beating three top-five players (Elena Rybakina, Iga Świątek and Coco Gauff) to win her third Rome title as a mother returning to the top of the game.
The clay swing then delivered a changing of the guard at Roland-Garros, where 19-year-old Mirra Andreeva won her maiden Grand Slam title, beating qualifier Maja Chwalińska in the final. At Wimbledon, Linda Nosková won a maiden Grand Slam title of her own, and Sabalenka has held world No. 1 throughout the season.
