Sinner vs Rublev preview
Jannik Sinner has looked controlled in Rome so far, beating Andrea Pellegrino 6-2, 6-3 in the round of 16 after beginning the week as the clear tournament favourite. The world No. 1 now meets Andrey Rublev, who recovered from a set down to beat Nikoloz Basilashvili 3-6, 7-6, 6-2.
Rublev has the power to rush Sinner, but on clay in Rome the Italian should be able to turn defence into attack often enough. The key question is whether Rublev can protect his second serve and keep the forehand exchanges short.
Landaluce vs Medvedev preview
Martin Landaluce has been one of the stories of the tournament. The Spaniard reached the quarter-finals by beating Hamad Medjedovic 7-5, 6-4, and he now gets the biggest clay-court test of his run against Daniil Medvedev.
Medvedev, the 2023 Rome champion, beat Thiago Agustin Tirante 6-3, 6-2 in the last 16. His return position and awkward rhythm can make opponents overplay, although Landaluce has already shown enough composure to suggest this will not be a routine assignment.
Ruud and Darderi book semi-final places
Casper Ruud is safely into the semi-finals after a three-set win over Karen Khachanov. Ruud dominated the opener, lost momentum in the second set, then reset impressively to take the decider 6-2.
He will face Luciano Darderi, who backed up his upset of Alexander Zverev with another high-pressure win. Darderi edged Rafael Jódar in a tight first set, was taken to a decider, then ran away with the third set 6-0.
Quarter-final betting angles
Sinner is the obvious favourite against Rublev, but prices are short and may not suit everyone. A more cautious angle is Sinner to win while Rublev keeps at least one set competitive, especially if the Russian serves well early.
Medvedev should be favoured against Landaluce, but the Spaniard has already beaten strong opposition this week. If you are betting on the match, consider waiting for in-play prices rather than forcing a pre-match position.

Italian Open quarter-final prediction
Sinner and Medvedev are the favourites to complete the semi-final line-up, but Rome has already produced several upsets this week. Ruud looks the most proven of the confirmed semi-finalists, while Darderi will carry huge confidence after beating Zverev and Jódar back to back.
Our projected semi-finals are Ruud vs Darderi and Sinner vs Medvedev, with Sinner still the player to beat for the title in Rome.
