Analysis

Playing Style & Strengths

Van Assche is a right-hander with a two-handed backhand, listed at 1.78m, which is small by the standards of the men's tour. He has worked with coach Sébastien Villette since the start of 2026, the season in which his results turned around. His Estoril title came on clay, and he won it the hard way. Against Rublev he came from a set down to win 3-6, 6-3, 6-4, and the final against Blockx went to 7-5 in the third set. He has also shown staying power in best-of-five matches, beating Musetti in five sets in Melbourne in 2024.

Betting

Assche Betting Tips & Predictions

Van Assche has done much of his winning at Challenger level this year, with four titles, and his tour-level results have been less steady. Since Estoril he has lost in the first round in Tokyo and Shanghai and fell to Denis Shapovalov at the US Open. He beat Clément Tabur in the first round in Lyon in October. He is also on the Vienna entry list as a replacement. Treat him as a player in decent form at 250 level rather than one ready to trouble the top seeds every week.
