Tournament Overview
The Wuhan Open is a WTA 1000 event played on outdoor hard courts at the Optics Valley International Tennis Centre in Wuhan, China. Founded in 2014, it sits in the Asian swing that follows the US Open and carries the same 1,000 ranking points as every other event at this tier. The tournament was absent from the calendar between 2020 and 2023 and returned in 2024. Aryna Sabalenka owns the most remarkable record here: she won in 2018, 2019 and 2024, three consecutive editions either side of the break, and went 20 matches unbeaten from her debut until Jessica Pegula beat her in the 2025 semi-finals. Coco Gauff won that 2025 title and returns to defend.
