Tournament Overview

The Rolex Shanghai Masters is an ATP Masters 1000 event played on outdoor hard courts at the Qizhong Forest Sports City Arena. It is the biggest tournament of the Asian swing and, at 96 players across nearly two weeks, one of the largest events outside the majors.

The 2025 edition produced the most improbable result in the tournament's history: Valentin Vacherot arrived as a qualifier ranked No. 204, beat Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals, and then beat his own cousin Arthur Rinderknech in the final. He became the lowest-ranked Masters 1000 champion in history and the first player from Monaco to win a tour-level title.

The 2026 draw was made on 5 October. Alexander Zverev is the top seed and Carlos Alcaraz the second, with Ben Shelton and Félix Auger-Aliassime seeded third and fourth. Jannik Sinner, the 2024 champion, is not in the draw, and Novak Djokovic, the record four-time champion and No. 10 seed, lost 6-4, 6-3 to Hubert Hurkacz in the second round on 9 October. Carlos Alcaraz, the No. 2 seed, lost to Zizou Bergs in the third round, and the defending champion Valentin Vacherot lost his title to Tommy Paul.

Alejandro Davidovich Fokina won the 2026 title as the No. 25 seed, coming from a set and a break down to beat Rafael Jódar 1-6, 7-6(5), 6-4 in an all-Spanish final. It was his first Masters 1000 title, and he beat the top seed Alexander Zverev 5-7, 6-4, 6-3 in the semi-finals.
